Although e-commerce in China started late, it has developed rapidly. There is a complementary relationship between e-commerce and Internet. Due to the huge number of netizens in China, e-commerce has a good development foundation in China. In 2008, the total amount of online transactions in China reached120 billion. In 2008, the online shopping market showed an obvious growth trend. At present, online shopping users have reached 74 million, with an annual growth rate of 60%. But compared with developed countries, there is still a certain distance. The utilization rate of the United States is 7 1℅, which is much higher than that of China. E-commerce in China is developing rapidly, but its proportion among key groups is very uneven. The proportion of college students and office workers greatly exceeds that of primary and secondary school students and migrant workers. Primary and middle school students are temporarily ignored because of their age and economic ability, while the low proportion of migrant workers in rural areas shows the imbalance of e-commerce development. Therefore, in the next few years, the development of e-commerce should be extended to urban suburbs and rural areas. E-commerce is a new business activity mode based on information networking, and its development is limited by the level of information network infrastructure and the social, legal and credit environment corresponding to the network economy. Although the government of China attaches great importance to the development of e-commerce, there is still a big gap compared with developed countries because of the imperfect social infrastructure in China.
The more direct and deeper factors that restrict the development of e-commerce in China are the standardization of e-commerce activities, social laws and regulations to ensure safe operation, and imperfect credit environment.
