Zhou Jian, director of Haikou Municipal Administration Bureau, introduced that Changbin Road in Haikou City is a demonstration project of sponge transformation of municipal roads by using underground utility tunnel. 60% of the rainwater left on the rainy road surface will be absorbed by the grass planting ditch, and the remaining 40% will be recovered by the underground drainage pipe network, so as to maximize the rainwater collection function of the sponge green space during rainfall.
