The discipline echelon has the characteristics of navigation, electronic navigation, modern communication and automatic control. In the years of scientific research and discipline construction, a relatively stable research direction has been formed: (l) Research on traffic information engineering and control system. Such as the modeling and simulation of navigation system, the application research of simulation system, the safety and benefit demonstration research of port and shipping construction, etc. (2) Research on key technologies of traffic information engineering and control. Such as electronic chart display and information system (ecdis), automatic ship identification system (ais), navigation adaptive signal processing and algorithm, information collection and burial of navigation equipment, etc. (3) Research on the theory and technology of Intelligent Transportation System (its). Such as the research of ship driving automation, the design and development of integrated bridge system, etc. (4) Research on traffic safety and protection technology. Research on ship freight management automation, ship system control and fault diagnosis. (5) Research on traffic information system. Such as ship traffic management system research, traffic information transmission and burial research. In the past five years, nearly 20 scientific research projects have been completed, with a total funding of about 1 10,000 yuan. They won the first prize of Shanghai Excellent Teaching Achievement 1 item, the first prize of Shanghai Excellent Invention 1 item, three scientific and technological progress awards of the Ministry of Communications, and the special prize of excellent papers of China Navigation Society 1 item (only two awards were won in recent five years). The main research projects include: port traffic control system, electronic chart display and information system, ship maneuvering simulator, radar navigation simulator, ship simulation training system, ship position tracking and monitoring system, etc.
The Shipping Simulation Center of the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Communications directly supports this discipline, and has large-scale experimental equipment such as ship maneuvering simulator, radar simulator, marine engine simulator, automatic engine room and gmdss simulator, with a value of 6,543,800 yuan. It provides a relatively perfect experimental base for discipline construction. The navigation laboratory, radar laboratory and electronic navigation instrument laboratory of Merchant Marine College have relatively advanced and complete navigation research instruments and equipment. At the same time, Shanghai has the largest port in China, the concentration of shipping companies in China, the largest shipbuilding base in China, and the training and labor export center for seafarers in China. The geographical advantages of Shanghai provide a solid foundation and superior conditions for the construction and development of this discipline. The construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center should not only give full play to good waterway and port conditions, smooth collection and distribution environment, pipe burial system and service system in line with international practice, but also have suitable talent and resource environment, including discipline support, scientific research support and talent support.
