The history of Shanxi University can be traced back to Lisan Academy in Ming Dynasty, Jinyang Academy and Lingdetang Academy in Qing Dynasty. The school, formerly known as Shanxi University Hall, was founded on May 8th (1902) in the 28th year of Guangxu reign in Qing Dynasty by Timothy Richard, an Englishman, and Cen Chunxuan, then governor of Shanxi. In the first year of the Republic of China (19 12), it was renamed as Shanxi University, and in 19 18, it was confirmed as the National Shanxi University, which was one of the first three national universities established in China. 193 1 renamed Shanxi university [6]. 1953, the national colleges and universities were renamed Shanxi Normal University after adjustment. The name of Shanxi University was restored from 65438 to 0959, which is one of the earliest universities registered in the United Nations in China.
As of March 20 18, Shanxi University has three campuses, namely Wucheng, Dadongguan and Dongshan (under construction), with a total area of nearly 3,485 mu and a building area of165,438+10,000 square meters.
