Shanghai Station of China R&D Center of BMW Group: Focus on Four Pillars of Future Mobile Travel.

China is the largest market of BMW Group (sales in 20 18: 639,953 vehicles, an increase of 7.7%), and it is becoming the main driving force, especially in the field of electrification and digitalization. In the cold winter of the auto market, BMW's sales can still guarantee the growth trend, which also proves BMW's position and product strength in the hearts of Chinese people.

BMW also attaches great importance to the China market, and has established BMW R&D centers in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenyang, forming a fully functional R&D network, which is also the largest unexpected R&D network of BMW Group in Germany. At present, BMW has more than 65,438+0,000 experts in the R&D center in China, more than 80% of whom are local employees in China.

We were invited to visit BMW Shanghai R&D Center, and established BMW Connected Driving Laboratory and Design Studio on 20 12. On June 20 18, we moved to the new R&D center (Shanghai Puxi Yulan Plaza) in a prime location, covering an area of more than 2,500 square meters.

BMW Shanghai R&D Center has four main functions: autonomous driving, interconnected driving laboratory and application center; Technology center and innovation; Design studio and digital service team, the heads of various functional departments explained their work and achievements to us.

Cooperation in design.

The automobile industry is currently at a critical moment of highly automated driving. The next stage of highly automated driving will greatly improve the comfort and efficiency of driving and road safety. For autonomous driving, BMW has already started research. Although there is no way to meet a wider range of autonomous driving for current practical use, manufacturers need to take this step earlier, hoping to see more high-tech products brought by BMW to users in the future.
