The primary qualification certificate needs to pass the California Basic Education Skills Examination (Cbest). After graduating from college, I will study 30 educational credits in the College of Education to complete teaching practice and other requirements. Or after passing the CBEST exam, get a master's degree or above in education from the College of Education.
The vocational qualification certificate requires teachers to complete 60 credits (equivalent to two-year courses) in the university within three years after obtaining the primary qualification certificate, before they can convert the primary qualification certificate into a vocational qualification certificate. After obtaining the vocational qualification certificate, it must be updated every five years.
CBEST is a four-hour exam, which is divided into three parts: English reading, English composition and mathematics. If you fail in the CBEST exam, the Institute of Education will not recognize your teacher qualification course, and you will not be able to meet the conditions for obtaining educational credits. CSET is a unified examination of subjects and professional knowledge required by the California Ministry of Education for students who have passed the CBEST exam.
