The National Professional Standard for Enterprise Information Managers defines enterprise information managers as "compound personnel engaged in enterprise informatization construction, undertaking information technology application, information system development, maintenance and management, and information resource development and utilization". The basic characteristics of this major are "knowing both enterprise management and information technology, with compound and comprehensive knowledge and ability".
