Xinjiang is one of the provinces with the richest mineral resources in China, with a wide variety of minerals, huge reserves and broad development prospects. At present, 0/38 kinds of minerals/kloc-have been discovered, among which 5 kinds of reserves rank first in China, 25 kinds rank first in China, 40 kinds rank first in China and 23 kinds rank first in northwest China.
Xinjiang ranks first in the country in mineral reserves 10: beryllium, sodium nitrate, muscovite, vermiculite and clay;
Natural sulfur, feldspar and serpentine are used as fertilizers for metallurgy; Bentonite, marble for cement, nickel and chromite; Diabase, petroleum and witherite for stone casting; Coal, magnesite, magnesium salt, potassium salt, asbestos, glass time, mudstone for cement, natural gas, cesium and shale for cement; Bismuth, platinum group and lithium; Oil shale, loess for cement, mirabilite; Marl, boron and tellurium; Manganese, cobalt, tantalum, niobium, glass sand, salt.
Main mineral resources:
1, energy and minerals. Xinjiang has five kinds of energy minerals: oil, natural gas, coal, oil shale and uranium, among which oil, natural gas and coal are the most advantageous mineral resources in Xinjiang. Xinjiang is one of the most promising areas for onshore oil in China. Junggar, Tarim and Turpan-Hami basins and 19 large and small sedimentary basins have good oil-forming geological conditions, with a sedimentary area of 950,000 square kilometers, accounting for about 1/4 of China's land sedimentary area.
2. Metal minerals. Black and nonferrous metal minerals in Xinjiang occupy a certain position in the whole country, and 27 kinds of metal minerals have been proved. There are five kinds of ferrous metal mineral resources: iron, manganese, chromium, vanadium and titanium, among which the proven reserves of iron ore rank fifth in China, manganese ore ranks eighth in China and chromium ore ranks fifth in China.
Non-ferrous metal minerals mainly include copper, nickel, lead, zinc and aluminum. Minerals are characterized by wide distribution, many occurrences and rich minerals and associated minerals, which are conducive to comprehensive development and utilization. Rare metal minerals in Xinjiang rank among the top in China.
Precious metal minerals with proven reserves include gold, silver, platinum and palladium. Xinjiang is rich in gold resources. Of the 85 counties and cities in Xinjiang, 59 have gold resources. Xinjiang is the main rare metal mineral area in China, especially famous for rare metal minerals such as beryllium, lithium, niobium and tantalum.
3. Non-metallic minerals. There are relatively complete nonmetallic minerals in Xinjiang, and 43 kinds of nonmetallic minerals have been proved. There are 8 kinds of nonmetallic minerals as metallurgical auxiliary raw materials, among which magnesite ranks fourth in China. There are 0/3 kinds of nonmetallic minerals/kloc-as chemical raw materials, among which the reserves of sodium nitrate, serpentine, potassium salt, magnesium salt, mirabilite, natural sulfur, witherite and salt rank among the top in China. There are 24 kinds of building materials and other non-metallic minerals, among which the proven reserves of muscovite, bentonite, vermiculite and clay rank first 1 or second in China.
Special nonmetallic and gem minerals used in arts and crafts include crystals and various gems, jade and colored gems. More than 70 kinds of precious stones have been found, such as aquamarine, emerald, tourmaline, hibiscus, garnet and violet. Among jade, Hetian jade, also known as nephrite, is unique to China, among which high-quality suet jade is a rare jade species in the world.
