Nanjing Railway Vocational and Technical College is a full-time ordinary institution of higher learning approved by Jiangsu Provincial People's Government and filed by the Ministry of Education. It is a provincial demonstration vocational college, a high-level vocational college construction unit in Jiangsu Province and a national high-quality vocational college. The school's predecessor was Nanjing Special Municipal No.1 Vocational Middle School, which was founded in 194 1. Since 1955, it has been renamed Nanjing Railway Transportation School, which has been under the management of the Ministry of Railways for a long time. In 2002, the school was upgraded to higher vocational and technical college and renamed Nanjing Railway Vocational and Technical College. In 2004, the establishment was placed under the local management of Jiangsu Province by the Ministry of Railways.
After more than 70 years of wind and rain, the people of South Railway Institute have always adhered to the historical responsibility of cultivating people, contributing to the railway and serving the society, worked hard, accumulated excellent school-running traditions, nurtured a rich campus culture with railway characteristics, trained a large number of high-quality technical and skilled talents, and won a good social reputation. The college has won many honorary titles, such as the top 50 national vocational colleges' service contribution and international influence, the top 30 national vocational colleges' employment competitiveness demonstration schools, the provincial advanced vocational education unit, the provincial civilized campus and the advanced collective of graduates' employment work. The admission score ranks first in Jiangsu vocational colleges for five consecutive years, and the employment competitiveness of graduates ranks among the top three in the province for six consecutive years. Successfully ranked among the construction units of high-level vocational colleges in Jiangsu Province, and was recognized as a national high-quality vocational college by the Ministry of Education.
