Liu Ningzhi, nicknamed Zhi 'an for many years, is from Bailizhou, Zhijiang, South County, Jingzhou. His father, Liu Qigong, was the prefect of Hengyang; Brother Gong Sheng, arrogant, is not an official. Liu Ningzhi admired hermits Lao Laizi and Yan Ziling, gave his property to his younger brother and nephew, built a house in the middle of nowhere, and didn't eat the food he earned. According to legend, Liu Ningzhi resigned and retired to serve his relatives, and built a house with pavilions and gardens, which was modestly called "Liu Jiaxiang" and later referred to as "Liu Xiang".
