Le Senxun has made great contributions to the survey, evaluation, development and utilization of mineral resources such as coal, iron, aluminum, mercury, copper and manganese in Guizhou Province. 1945 published The Distribution of Major Minerals and the Establishment of Heavy Industry Center in Guizhou, strongly calling for giving full play to the resource advantages of Guizhou Province and establishing the foundation of heavy industry. His article "Geology and Minerals in Southern Guizhou" (1929) laid the foundation for the division of Devonian strata in Duyun and Dushan areas, discovered Mangshan timely sandstone, and demonstrated the existence of middle-upper Carboniferous and Permian strata. In addition, he also founded the name of Mesozoic strata in Xinpu in Anshun, Guanling, Falang and Yongning counties of Guizhou, and found freshwater snail beds in Anshun, the first discovery of fossils of the Middle Triassic Falang Formation.
When War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression broke out, Le Senxun set up a Guizhou mineral exploration team in Guizhou Province to study the geology and minerals in Guizhou Province, and also taught students in the Geology Department of Guizhou University. At that time, there were insufficient funds, few people, inconvenient transportation, rampant bandits, very sinister working conditions and hard life. At that time, geologists Xu Deyou, Chen Kang and Ma Yisi were killed by bandits in Guizhou. Le Senxun was very sad when the ink consumption came. Relatives and friends advised him to give up geological research, but despite difficulties and obstacles, he continued to work in the mountains and rivers of Guizhou. When the Japanese plane bombed Guiyang city, he was conducting a geological survey of the surrounding mountains, and many places in the city were shot and caught fire. However, regardless of the safety of his family, he continued to insist on geological work. Papers, reports, geological maps, etc. 15 kinds. 1944, at the 20th annual meeting of geological society of china held in Guiyang, he read two papers, Geological Survey of Guizhou and Geological Structure Near Guiyang, and discovered Silurian strata near Guiyang for the first time, calling them Gaozhaitian Shale, which was determined as Late Silurian. Le Senxun and Jiang Rong also compiled the Geological Travel Guide and Geological Map near Guiyang, and measured the1/200,000 geological map of Qingzhen, Pingba, Anshun, Ziyun, Guanling, Langdai, Zhenning and Puding in Guizhou Province and the1/50,000 geological map near Guiyang.
After the founding of New China, Le Senxun has been concerned about the development of mineral resources in Guizhou Province and the economic construction of his hometown. He has always believed that Guizhou Province is rich in underground resources and has broad development prospects. 198 1 year, Le Senxun was over eighty years old. He flew to Guiyang with great interest, attended the "natural science lecture" held by Guizhou Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Science and Technology Commission, gave a report entitled "Research History of Guizhou Coal Mine", and repeatedly expressed his willingness to contribute to the development of natural resources in Guizhou Province.
Le Senxun is very concerned about the training of young and middle-aged teachers and the construction of teaching staff. Before the young teachers start classes, he always gives enthusiastic guidance, helps to make lesson plans, revises lecture notes, and sometimes attends classes in person and organizes teachers to observe each other. He has formulated and revised training and further education plans for young and middle-aged teachers for many times, spent a lot of time reviewing teachers' scientific research achievements, put forward suggestions for revision, enthusiastically recommended them for publication, and even personally prefaced them.
After 1946, Le Senxun took a part-time job in Guizhou University to help Ding Daoheng train the first graduates of the Geology Department of Guizhou University. He attaches great importance to the cultivation of graduate students, with careful guidance, strict requirements and enthusiastic encouragement. As soon as the graduate students entered the school, he helped to make a study plan, designated English reference books, required the full text to be translated into Chinese, set a good class schedule and check it every week. Le Senxun gave careful guidance and regular inspection on the topic selection, field work and indoor research of graduate students. He also repeatedly revised the graduate thesis word for word, even the punctuation and reference format, and even personally demonstrated the posting of the fossil plate. Under his careful guidance, the professional knowledge and foreign language level of graduate students have improved rapidly.
