Brief introduction of dripping Guanyin

The trademark of taro. Latin scientific name: Aloc Asia macro rhiza(Linn. ) short

Drip Guanyin: Araceae, Alocasia, also known as "Drip Lotus". Bergamot lotus has medicinal value.

Under warm and humid conditions and sufficient soil moisture, it will drip from the tip or edge of the leaf; And flowers are like Guanyin, so it is called dripping Guanyin. If the air humidity is too low, the water will evaporate immediately, so there are more water droplets in the morning, which is the so-called "spitting water" phenomenon (not just taro).

1, the growth temperature is 20-30 degrees, and the lowest temperature can reach 8 degrees. When the temperature is high in summer, it can still grow normally as long as the soil is kept moist, sprayed with water frequently and shaded, and the room temperature is not lower than 5 degrees in winter. Drip Guanyin is an undergrowth plant in the tropical rain forest, so its growth needs high humidity and scattered light.

2. Because shade-tolerant plants like semi-shade environment, they should be placed in an environment that can provide shade and ventilation, and they should not be exposed to the sun to avoid large-scale burns of plants.

3, particularly humid, the growing season not only requires the soil to be moist, but also requires the air humidity to be no less than 60%. When it is hot in summer, it is necessary to strengthen water spraying to create a relatively cool and humid environment. If placed in an indoor air-conditioned hall, make sure that the soil in the basin is moist and spray water on the leaves from time to time. If the room temperature does not reach 15 degrees in winter, water should be controlled, otherwise it will easily lead to root rot. In general, spraying warm water 1 time a week can keep its leaves dark green.

4. It can be cultivated in nutrient soil mixed with humus soil, peat soil and river sand and a small amount of soaked cake fertilizer, or it can be cultivated in water, but attention should be paid to preventing root rot and adding nutrient solution. Change the basin 1 time every spring and loosen the soil 1 time every month to keep the basin soil in a good permeable state.

5. Prefer fertilizer, March-June 10, topdressing every half month 1 time, in which the proportion of nitrogen can be appropriately increased, and it is best to add a little ferrous sulfate, so that the leaves will grow as big as lotus leaves, smooth and pleasant. Fertilization should be stopped when the temperature is lower than 15 degrees. Price: 5~ 1000 yuan per pot.

6. Because Drip Guanyin is a foliage plant, the largest leaves will appear yellow and dry under some improper feeding conditions. At this time, cut it off with a knife (even if it hurts), otherwise it will affect the growth and appreciation of other leaves.

"Drip Guanyin belongs to Araceae. Most of the plants in this family are poisonous, such as evergreen, tortoise-back bamboo, green radish, etc. It is common in residents' homes, but it can also purify the air. There is no need to be crazy about these flowers that are widely planted in winter. As long as they are not easy to enter, they can get along safely. The newspaper reported that the flower friends persevered in throwing "Drip Guanyin" to attract readers' attention. These days, our hotline has been discussing whether the "suspicious" flowers that have been raised at home for many years should be thrown away.

Chen Yimin, a resident of Tiexi District, said that "Drip Guanyin" is green and lush, and the water drops stick to the leaves and will not roll down. It has always been her favorite. She has raised 15 years and is more than two meters tall. I heard that "Drip Guanyin" is a poisonous flower. I want to put it on the balcony, but I am afraid of freezing to death. What should I do? Ms. Guan Hong of Yuhong District said, "'Drip Guanyin' is really poisonous. My 8-year-old son saw that the thick stems of' Drip Guanyin' were white and watery. He was curious about the taste of the juice inside and couldn't help licking it. After a few seconds, my throat was unbearable, my lips were swollen and my tongue was numb! "

Professor Li Zuowen, head of the expert group of Liaoning Landscape Architecture Society, answered these questions. He thinks that the worry of "dripping Guanyin" is unnecessary, and it is not among the 52 kinds of cancer-promoting plants. Although toxic, it can be raised safely. In fact, many flowers in residents' homes are poisonous. Bamboo is a natural scavenger, which can remove harmful substances from the air, but it is also a poisonous flower. Green radish is evergreen all the year round and can absorb toxic gases, but the juice of green radish is toxic, which will be red and itchy when it comes into contact with the skin, and it will also cause sore throat if eaten by mistake; Evergreen belongs to Liliaceae, and the poisonous part is rhizome. Eating too much rhizome by mistake can cause nausea, abdominal pain, chills in limbs and even coma. Zebra is an evergreen plant, and the juice of its leaves can make people speechless.

Guo Xichang, a professor of forestry at Shenyang Agricultural University, believes that Euphorbiaceae and Daphne are also toxic, such as Kirin Crown, one of 52 cancer-promoting plants, which should not be planted at home. However, there is absolutely no need to smash poisonous flowers that can purify the air at home, such as dripping Guanyin and green radish.

Experts believe that the attitude towards poisonous plants should be: keep a proper distance and don't play around at will; You can't put branches and leaves in your mouth.

Experts also concluded that 10 bedroom should avoid placing all kinds of flowers: for example, the fragrance of orchids can cause insomnia; Mimosa may cause hair loss; Bauhinia pollen can cause asthma and aggravate cough; Cordate telosma can cause dizziness; Lily fragrance can cause insomnia; The fragrance of Chinese rose is depressing; The milky liquid secreted by oleander may be toxic; The fragrance of pine and cypress makes people lose appetite; Hydrangea is easy to cause allergies; Tulip flowers can cause hair loss.

The two professors also put forward some suggestions on what flowers to keep indoors in winter: the more flowers to keep indoors, the better. Home ownership housing with an area of 15 square meters only needs two pots of medium and large plants, while small plants can put three or four pots.

[Edit this paragraph] The cultivation conditions of Drip Guanyin

Drip Guanyin is a very common green potted plant in China, but because it is a tropical plant, it generally does not bloom in the north. But if the temperature and other conditions at home are right, it will also bloom.

The soil requirement is not high, but it grows best in sandy loam or humus loam with good drainage and rich organic matter. Because Drip Guanyin naturally likes warm, humid and semi-cloudy environment and is not cold-resistant, it is necessary to keep the basin soil moist during the growing season. But endure a little drought, and don't be too cruel.

In summer, the flowerpot should be placed in a semi-cool and ventilated place, and water should be sprayed to the surroundings and leaves frequently to increase the air humidity, reduce the temperature of the leaves and keep it clean.

Because Drip Guanyin grows very fast and likes to fertilize, it applies NPK compound fertilizer 1-2 every month (the proportion of nitrogen can be appropriately higher). If a little ferrous sulfate can be applied, the leaves will be bigger and greener. Long-term lack of fertilizer will easily lead to dripping at the lower end of Guanyin stem, which will affect the ornamental value. When the temperature drops and enters the dormant period, fertilization can be reduced or not.

If you want to keep the dripping Guanyin small and exquisite indoors, just wait until its seedlings grow to one foot and are suitable for home placement, and immediately spray the whole plant with 2% paclobutrazol solution. After that, the stems and leaves are no more than 40 cm high, with thick leaves and high ornamental value. Spraying medicine once every six months or so can play a good role in controlling height.

(1) plant division and sowing

In summer and autumn, taro tubers will germinate into small taro with leaves, which can be divided into plants by turning over the pots and changing the soil. When autumn is ripe, harvest the orange-red seeds and sow them as you pick them, or dry them and store them until the next spring.

(2) truncation

For perennial plants, stem cutting propagation can be carried out from the base of the plant about 5 cm away from the ground in combination with plant regeneration.

Cutting Alocasia alopecuroides has two advantages: first, because the plant loses its apical growth advantage, the base of nutrient accumulation promotes the germination of a large number of roots and stems, which is helpful to the propagation speed and quantity; Second, the cut old stems can be cut into branches about 1.5 cm long, inserted into sandy loam and cultivated in the shade for half a day. Especially in the growth section at the top, after all the formed leaves are cut off, the single plant is directly put into the pot, and cutting and cultivation are carried out at the same time. After two months' cultivation, a pot of Ye Zhuang, tight-branched, well-built plants has been formed, which is quite elegant indoors. Alocasia esculenta is suitable for cutting in spring, summer and autumn. When cutting, keep the moisture of the substrate (6 parts sand: 4 parts garden soil) and increase the air humidity. Many stout roots can grow in about 7- 10 days. During the cultivation of old plants, due to humid environment or spraying water on the leaves every morning and evening in summer and autumn, occasionally a few new plants germinate on the old stems (especially on the stem base left after stem cutting treatment) and attach many air roots, which can be broken from the joint between the daughter plants and the mother plants for planting.

[Edit this paragraph] Warm reminder

Remind flower friends that the white juice in the dripping Guanyin stem is poisonous, and the dripping water is also poisonous. If you accidentally touch or eat its juice, it will cause discomfort in the throat and mouth, and there will be a burning sensation in the stomach. Special attention should be paid to prevent children from eating by mistake. But dripping Guanyin is not a carcinogenic plant.

Experts told reporters that it is precisely because the dripping Guanyin is toxic that the skin will itch or be strongly stimulated when it comes into contact with its juice, and the eye contact with the juice will cause serious conjunctivitis and even blindness. Eating stems and leaves by mistake can cause nausea, pain, and even suffocation in severe cases, leading to cardiac paralysis and death. So try to reduce contact with dripping Guanyin, and it is best not to plant it in families with children.

[Edit this paragraph] Pest control

The body of dripping Guanyin is on the leaves. There are generally two kinds, one is leaf spot and the other is anthracnose. Leaf spot can be sprayed with 800 times of chlorothalonil or carbendazim, 2-3 times in a row, once every 7 days. Anthracnose can be basically controlled by spraying 75% thiophanate-methyl 500 times solution on the leaves every 7 days 1 time for 2-3 times in a row. Because avalokitesvara is a foliage plant, once its leaves get sick, it will inevitably affect its ornamental effect, so prevention is the priority.

Stem reaction, Fusarium wilt, is caused by bacterial infection. This disease is not easy to be found at first, and once it is found, it will be serious. If the stem is found to be tilted to one side or wilted, it must be a blight. You can cut off the diseased part with a knife. The boundary between the diseased part and the non-diseased part is very obvious, which can generally be broken off by hand. If the affected area is less than one third of the stem, you can apply a layer of chlorothalonil solution to the unaffected area, keep it dry, and apply it again every ten days. You can basically recover after 20 days.

The most serious pest of dripping Guanyin is mites, commonly known as red spiders. Starscream is usually born on the back of leaves. It not only absorbs nutrients from leaves, but also spreads various viruses. It has a great influence on the growth of plants, so it must be checked frequently and treated immediately once it is found. Mi Hu Qing, Sao Mi Hu Jing and Imidacloprid can be used for treatment.
