Main responsibilities:
1. Implement the principles, policies, laws and regulations of the Party and the state on education and promote quality education.
2 study and formulate local education laws, regulations and policies in this Municipality and organize their implementation.
3, study and formulate the city's education development strategy and long-term planning, overall planning and guidance to coordinate the comprehensive reform of urban and rural education.
4, the preparation of the city's annual education development plan and enrollment plan, and organize and guide the implementation of the plan.
5. Comprehensively manage the city's basic education, vocational and technical education, adult education, higher education, community education and off-campus education, guide and coordinate the education work of all districts, counties and departments, and be responsible for guiding the implementation of nine-year compulsory education and the supervision and evaluation of eliminating illiteracy among young people.
6, establish and improve the system of multi-channel financing for education, in conjunction with the relevant departments to formulate policies to raise education funds, education infrastructure investment, education funding, education aid, education loans and education fees.
