Guangzhou South Railway Station connects Beijing-Guangzhou High-speed Railway, Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-speed Railway, Guiguang High-speed Railway, nanning-guangzhou railway, Guangzhou-Zhuhai Urban Rail and the West Guangdong Coastal Railway. It is the core railway station in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Pan-Pearl River Delta, and also one of the passenger transport hubs of Guangzhou Railway.

From bottom to top, the station structure is divided into four floors: underground floor (subway station and parking lot), ground floor (entrance and exit floor, ticket purchasing floor), ground floor (elevated platform floor, east drop-off platform) and ground floor (elevated waiting floor, west drop-off platform), which can accommodate up to 5300 people at the same time.
Guangzhou South Railway Station has 15 platform (2-side platform+13 island platform), 28 tracks (all arrival and departure lines) and 28 platforms, making it the largest high-speed rail hub station in South China. From east to west, the second floor on the ground is Beijing-Guangzhou lower parking lot, Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong parking lot, Beijing-Guangzhou upper parking lot, Guangzhou-Zhuhai parking lot, Gui Fang and Nam Phuong.
Platforms 1 (platform 1) and 15 (platform 28) are side platforms, while platforms 2 (platforms 2 and 3) to 14 (platforms 26 and 27) are island platforms.
