King Sulu died in Texas.
In September of the 15th year of Yongle in Ming Dynasty (14 17), Sulu Wang died in Dezhou on his way back from Beijing, the capital of Ming Dynasty. It has been nearly 600 years.
The friendship between the Chinese and Philippine peoples goes back to ancient times. The recorded economic and cultural exchanges have a history of more than 1000 years, and the two peoples have forged a profound friendship. During the Ming Dynasty in China, there were the most frequent exchanges in the history of Sino-Philippine relations. Luzon in Luzon Island and Sulu in sulu archipelago established diplomatic relations directly with China, and friendly envoys kept going back and forth. The ancient Sulu Kingdom is a part of the present Philippines, located in the southwest of the Philippines.
During the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty, Judy, the founder of the Ming Dynasty, followed the instruction of Ming Taizu and sent envoys to visit 15 countries in Southeast Asia. King Sulu decided to visit Judy in China himself. In the fifteenth year of Yongle, the East King led two kings, the West King and the Cave King, together with more than 340 people, to visit China. After the Sulu mission arrived in China, it was accompanied by Zheng He, the eunuch of the company commanders. After the delegation arrived in Beijing, Ming Chengzu hosted King Sulu and his party in the palace and showed their skills in the competition. At this time, the pirates Luo Jinglong and Kankava stole the big pearl of King Sulu and killed the guard Abu Beka. The case was soon found out, the murderer was executed on the spot, and the big pearl was returned to King Sulu. Ming Chengzu made Abu Bekaa the general of a title of generals in ancient times and held a royal funeral for him. King Sulu was very moved and determined to be friendly with China for generations.
The Sulu Mission stayed in Beijing for 27 days and returned to China along the canal in September of that year. When returning to China, the Ming court returned generous gifts and sent officials to escort them. When they traveled to Texas along the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, the East King of Sulu unfortunately fell ill, and Ming Chengzu ordered the imperial doctor to go to the clinic quickly. However, he died of illness and died in Texas. When the obituary went to Beijing, Ming Chengzu sent Chen Shiqi, a doctor of rites, to Dezhou to hold a grand funeral for the East King, and built the tomb of Sulu King for him according to the specifications of the Ming Dynasty tombs. Ming Chengzu personally wrote the inscription and eulogy. According to the custom of China, his eldest son Ma Du was canonized as the new East King of Sulu. Since then, the two kings of Yao have returned to China, leaving Princess Ge Muning, the second son Wen Hala, the third son An Dulu and ten attendants to stay in China for three years. For the royal family guarding the mausoleum, the official warehouse in Texas provides rations of one stone per person per month, as well as cloth and paper money. And also "sacrifice three hectares and thirty-eight acres of land to twelve cities and never start construction." Every year on New Year's Day, local officials in Texas will send someone to visit the grave. Descendants of the royal family have been friendly with Qilu villagers for generations, and have written touching stories of friendly coexistence and cultural blending of different countries and nationalities.
Mausoleum conforms to China funeral regulations.
The cemetery covers an area of more than 80 mu, with a tomb height of 4.2 meters and a diameter of 16.6 meters. Entering the cemetery, I saw pines and cypresses green and lush. Stone archways are erected in front of the long Shinto, and stone utensils such as stone chambers, Shi Hu, Shi Bao, Shiyang and Huabiao are symmetrically arranged on both sides. The stone carvings are exquisite and vivid. At the end is the majestic instrument door. Enter Yimen, Enmen, Main Hall and East-West Attached Hall in turn. In the middle of the main hall, a huge portrait of King Sulu hangs high, and in the middle of the back of the main hall is a huge dome. The tombstone reads "Tomb of King Sulu Wang Guoli". Mausoleum is completely China's funeral regulations. In the pavilion of Emperor Yongle in the southeast of the tomb, there is an inscription "Sulu Wangdong Imperial Monument" written by Ming Chengzu himself, with a dragon and a loaded turtle engraved on his forehead. Next to the pavilion are the tombs of his princess, his second son, Wenhala, and his third son, Andulu. To the south of the cemetery is a mosque.
In the ninth year of Yongzheng in Qing Dynasty (173 1 year), Sulu Wang Su visited China and passed through Dezhou to pay homage to his ancestors. Since then, many Philippine ambassadors to China and the sons of former Philippine President Marcos have visited Texas to pay homage to the tomb of King Dongsulu. 1999, the Sultan of the Philippines went to Texas to worship his ancestors. The "Sulu Dongwang Monument" in the hospital is also a Sulu Dongwang Monument jointly established by Sultan, a descendant of Sulu Dongwang in the Philippines, the Rizal Belief Association in the Philippines and the National History Association of the Philippines.
"Royal Descendants" in Beiying Village
Today, there are 100 households in Beiying Village, with nearly 700 people. At that time, Royal Guards joined China under the names An and Wen, and now there are about 26 households 120 people in An. There are 8 families in Wenjia, with about 40 people. 1980, Dr. Reyes, Philippine ambassador to China, visited China. I heard that there are not many descendants here. He also asked his entourage about this. In fact, he doesn't know that there have always been wars and natural and man-made disasters. In the early years of the Republic of China, the canal was flooded, leaving only three houses in the village. The descendants of Wen and An and the local villagers fled in succession. How many royal descendants are there in the country now? It is impossible to make accurate statistics. They have merged with the Chinese nation.
The "descendants of the royal family" in Beiying Village are diligent and honest, and many people have made great achievements in many fields. Over the years, not only people from all walks of life in the Philippines often visit here, but also representatives have visited the Philippines many times, making their own contributions to the good-neighborly friendship between the two countries.
