According to Document No.70 issued by the Ministry of Science and Technology on February 22nd, 20th12nd, modern service industry refers to the service industry based on modern science and technology, especially information network technology, and new business model, service mode and management mode. It includes not only the emerging service formats with the development of technology, but also the use of modern technology to transform and upgrade traditional service industries.
It is different from traditional service industries such as commerce, accommodation, catering, warehousing and transportation, and is represented by finance and insurance, information transmission and computer software, leasing and business services, scientific research and technical services and geological exploration, culture, sports and entertainment, real estate and community services.
The term "modern service industry" was first put forward in the report of the 15th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in September, 1997. In 2000, the Central Economic Work Conference put forward: "It is necessary to transform and upgrade the traditional service industry, but also to develop new service industries such as tourism, information, accounting, consulting and legal services".
