Lingti dogs will show anxiety, make their own nests, dig the ground, lose appetite, have swollen nipples, and sometimes have diarrhea, turn around frequently and look for a quiet place.
2. Normal delivery
When the first puppy enters the birth canal, the expectant mother's abdominal muscles contract obviously to help the uterus push out the movement, and an obvious amniotic sac will appear in the vulva and then land. Greyhound's innate instinct will tear the amniotic sac, bite off the umbilical cord, lick the trunk of the newborn dog and urge it to breathe for the first time.
3. Artificial midwifery
Some newborn dogs, especially the firstborn, can get help from their owners when their buttocks are exposed and the delivery time is too long. When the abdomen of the greyhound contracts, it can gently pull the puppy to help it give birth, then tear open the amniotic sac (most of which has been broken and amniotic fluid has flowed out), dry the amniotic fluid in the trunk and nasal cavity, and promote its breathing.
4. Judgment of dystocia
If the time interval between contractions and delivery is more than two hours, it means that Lingti dogs are abnormal, such as primary uterine inertia (caused by fatigue, hypoglycemia and hypocalcemia) or secondary uterine inertia (two puppies appear in horizontal delivery position and birth canal at the same time, and the birth canal is blocked). In this case, you must take medical and surgical intervention.
Oxytocin can be used as a drug to stimulate uterine contraction (note: this can only be used after the actual diagnosis, because sometimes it will lead to uterine rupture, neonatal asphyxia and lactation disorder in gray dogs), and ordinary gray dogs can give birth to puppies under the action of oxytocin.
