First, the purpose and significance of chanting Buddha Seven
The word "fighting Buddha for seven days" means holding, and the word "fighting Buddha" usually means holding, and "seven days" means seven days. "Playing Buddha for seven days" means holding seven days of practice activities dedicated to chanting Buddha. This is a good way to practice in the Pure Land, that is, to concentrate on a certain period of time, so that everyone can put aside all the outer edges, concentrate all their energy, seriously recite Buddha, purify Buddha, and strive to achieve the realm of single-mindedness. Therefore, the purpose of chanting Buddha Seven is nothing more than to achieve undivided attention. What classic is this based on? Mainly according to the amitabha sutra. The scripture says that "if there are good men and good women, they will smell Amitabha and hold the name", that is to say, they will hold the name of Buddha and hold the name of Buddha. "If one day, two days, three days, four days, five days, six days, seven days, two days a day can be fast, six days and seven days can be slow. In fact, it takes several "sevens" to make a difference without confusion, and the ultimate goal of chanting Buddha seven is to make a difference without confusion. Achieved the goal of not being chaotic. You can guarantee the afterlife. " At the end of his life, Amitabha and other saints are now in front of him. "Other great bodhisattvas, such as Amitabha and the three sages of the West, appeared in front of this man." When people die, their hearts will not turn back, and they will be blessed with the land of Amitabha. "This person can go to the pure land by the introduction of Amitabha. This is the basis for our seventh Buddhist recitation, and it is also the enlightenment of the Buddha to us.
Therefore, in these seven days, we are not pursuing anything else, not seeing anything, but mainly achieving "one heart is not chaotic." Of course, it is not useless for us to read Buddha with scattered hearts, but it is also the remote cause of becoming a Buddha. In other words, the fruit of becoming a Buddha is far away. If we can recite Buddha without confusion, it can ensure our death.
The method of chanting Buddha is a procedure based on belief, will and behavior. "Faith" should be true; "Wish" must be cut; Do it carefully. Just recite Buddha. To recite Buddha Seven is to concentrate, concentrate time and practice seriously. Although we are also chanting Buddha at ordinary times, there are many interferences and concerns. It's not easy to concentrate for a day and a half. There is another truth. It is easy for a hardworking person to slack off and it is difficult to stick to it. Collective action is different. Only by supervising each other, encouraging each other and being bound by the system can we not easily slack off and stick to it. When we practice the Pure Land Method, we have confidence and desire. Through practice, we are studying Buddhism seriously. Only in this way can our confidence and desire be realized and we will not fail. Taking part in chanting Buddha Seven is a positive action, which can practice our confidence and willingness. That is, an improvement on the basis of chanting Buddha at ordinary times. I hope that in these seven days. We all strive to achieve a state of undivided attention.
Second, how can we be single-minded?
How can we be single-minded? Speak four points:
The first point: let go of everything and recite the "seven" wholeheartedly. These seven days, don't think about housework, don't queue up. Those of us who are involved in it should wear the word "death" on our heads and always treat it as if we are going to die. With such thoughts, we have a sense of urgency, a brave and progressive heart, and a sincere and sincere heart. This is the psychological preparation we should have first. This is very important.
The second point: master the essentials of chanting Buddha. According to two sentences in the Shurangama Sutra: The Great Trend to Tong Yuan: "Take all six, and the pure thoughts come one after another. Six: eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and mind, that is, six windows. Taking a picture is taking a picture and folding it. Taking pictures is a neat collection. All six windows are closed, and only one Buddha name is mentioned, which is called "one after another" without interruption or inclusion. """six capitals" are one heart; "net thinking is one after another" means not to be chaotic. Therefore, if you do these two sentences, you will achieve "one heart is not chaotic." Among these six roots, the meaning root is the key, and it is difficult to deal with the habit without beginning. Followed by the root of the ear, it is not easy to take pictures. If we can stop two ears, the other four will be easy to stop. Therefore, "thinking and listening" is the key to taking all six. I hope everyone can master this. This is the second point.
The third point: save your strength and recite the Buddha loudly. Master Yongming's revelation: chanting Buddha loudly can stimulate a brave and diligent heart; Scattering and dislocation can be eliminated; Can eliminate disorder and drowsiness; Can make the buddhas happy; Can make monty terror; Can make three roads suffer. There are so many benefits. Although I usually read Buddha at home, I have scruples and dare not read aloud. In these seven days, we must cheer up and recite the Buddha loudly, not just spinning around our throats, let alone keeping silent. Ancient monks got up in the morning and stood on the mountain to recite the Buddha loudly. It is a good way to give alms to the nearby residents by hearing the Buddha's name and planting good roots. There are also monks who sweat when they recite Buddha in winter. It can be seen that it is very important to devote all your energy to chanting Buddha aloud. On the other hand, if the voice of reading is very low, or if you just read vaguely in your throat, your mind will easily wander and your delusion will easily grow. Also, fast, slow, high and low chanting should be in tune. So when we are chanting, we should listen to everyone's chanting, not just our own chanting, but our own chanting heart and chanting should be integrated into everyone's regular chanting. If you recite Buddha in this way, you will naturally feel relaxed and will not feel tired. This is the third point.
The fourth point: anti-scattering and anti-dizziness. As we all know, disorder and drowsiness are two major obstacles to our chanting. If we can be neither scattered nor groggy, then it will be easy for us to read Buddhism. After filming, it's easy to be distracted. How to prevent scattering? We must read it sincerely and seriously, and we must read it in a "thinking and listening" way. We must read one word and listen to another. I can see clearly in my heart. I can hear you clearly. In this way, you can't have distractions and ensure that your heart is free of distractions. If you can't hear clearly, it means that you are a little distracted and scattered. If you can't hear it at all, it means that distractions have gained the upper hand, and our hearts are far away, so we can experiment. Also, in the temple, don't look around. Eyes should droop naturally, only look within three feet ahead, concentrate on chanting Buddha, regardless of others, and don't look around. Looking around, it is inevitable to have delusions. Although I read Buddha in my mouth, my heart has run away; Although people are in the palace, their hearts are no longer in the palace. It is useless to recite Buddha in this way, and it will not be useful to recite Buddha in this way. Besides, how to prevent drowsiness? Reading Buddha aloud is an effective way to prevent drowsiness. However, when we sit and meditate, we tend to fall asleep. What do we do? It has a lot to do with sitting posture. We should keep our bodies straight and our waists straight. Not the chest, but the waist. The waist should be straight and sit comfortably. Relax your abdomen, don't look up or down. When you are dizzy, your head will droop or shake. In this case, you should cheer yourself up, open your eyes and straighten your waist. This will dispel drowsiness. If sleepiness is serious, these methods are ineffective, and you can stand up and worship Buddha. In this way, the drowsiness is naturally solved. This is the fourth point.
These four points mentioned above are important conditions to ensure that we can achieve peace of mind within seven days. I hope that if we do this, we can ensure that we can all achieve our goals.
Finally, I wish you all to put everything down, concentrate on chanting Buddha, purify your body and mind, eliminate karma and increase your happiness and wisdom in these seven days. In this way, we can get huge benefits before now. There must be a guarantee in the future to die in pure land.
