Inner Mongolia's only world cultural heritage

The only world cultural heritage in Inner Mongolia is the Yuanshangdu site.

Yuanshangdu site is located in Zhenglan Banner grassland of Xilin Gol League, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It was once the capital of the greatest Yuan Dynasty in the history of the world, and was founded in 1256. This is the birthplace of China Dayuan Dynasty and Mongolian ancient culture, where Kublai Khan ascended the throne and established the Yuan Dynasty.

In the Yuan Dynasty, there was Shangdu River in the south, Longgang Mountain in the north and the vast Jinlianchuan grassland around it. Formed a layered radial distribution centered on the palace ruins, that is, there are palaces and temples dominated by civil buildings, as well as traditional Mongolian yurts. It embodies the grand style of a highly prosperous grassland capital, is the product of the integration of farming civilization and nomadic civilization, and is an outstanding example of the integration of grassland culture and central plains farming culture.

1988 was listed in the third batch of national key cultural relics protection units. 20 12 On June 29th, the 36th World Heritage Congress officially announced that the site of China Yuanshangdu was included in the World Heritage List.
