The upgrading and reconstruction project of Mizan-Ma Di Highway in Ethiopia is the second highway construction contract signed by China No.17 Metallurgical Group and Ethiopian National Highway Bureau. The total road length of the project is 9 1.60km, mainly including 3.49 million cubic meters of subgrade earthwork, 480,000 cubic meters of subbase and base gravel, 820,000 square meters of asphalt pavement, 0/49 road culverts, 0/40 cubic meters of drainage ditches and 2 bridges. As a transportation channel from Djibouti to southern Sudan via Addis Ababa, highway shoulders the heavy responsibility of "economic corridor along the route". After the project is completed, it will improve the living conditions of residents along the route and promote the sound development of bilateral relations.
In order to realize the set goal of opening the whole line to traffic as soon as possible, all the staff of the project department overcame many difficulties such as tight time, heavy task, difficult land acquisition, continuous rainfall, epidemic outbreak, etc., adopted scientific management methods, consolidated the foundation of epidemic prevention and control, optimized resource allocation, carefully conducted safety technical disclosure, and completed the acceptance and handover of the whole line project with good quality and quantity. Therefore, the General Administration of Western Region of Ethiopian National Highway Bureau sent a letter of commendation to China Seventeenth Metallurgical Group, which highly praised the special sense of responsibility and endurance of employees of the Group.
