Zhangzhou, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Fujian Province, is a national coastal economic open zone approved by the State Council, and is one of the areas that opened to the outside world earlier in China. At the same time, it is also the central city of the economic zone on the west side of the Taiwan Strait, located at the southern end of the Golden Triangle in southern Fujian. The terrain of the jurisdiction is inclined from northwest to southeast, and the landforms are in turn middle and low mountains, hilly platforms and alluvial plains, with Zhangzhou Plain as the largest plain in Fujian Province.
It belongs to subtropical monsoon humid climate, with annual average temperature of 2 1℃, annual sunshine of 2,000 hours, abundant rainfall, frost-free period of more than 330 days, and average rainfall of about 1, 500mm. It is a natural "big greenhouse".

In addition, it has jurisdiction over the national Zhangzhou Taiwanese Investment Zone, the national Zhangzhou High-tech Industrial Development Zone, the national Zhangzhou Investment Promotion Economic and Technological Development Zone, the national Dongshan Economic and Technological Development Zone, the provincial Gu Lei Port Economic Development Zone and the provincial Changshan Overseas Chinese Economic Development Zone, among which Dongshan County and Dongshan Economic and Technological Development Zone are led by two brands, and the municipal government is located in xiangcheng district.
