Okinawa Ocean Expo Memorial Park, referred to as Ocean Expo Park for short, is a comprehensive large-scale park with subtropical characteristics built in the venue of 1975 Okinawa International Ocean Expo. The park covers an area of 700,000 square meters and is 3 kilometers long from north to south, with the theme of "sunshine, flowers and ocean". This marine park is also the second largest marine park in the world after the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta.
Colorful tropical fish, sharks and rays, which are the largest fish in the world, are 7.5 meters long, and living coral reefs can be seen in Okinawa Ocean Park. It is said that the aquarium is famous because it is the first and earliest aquarium in the world. Being number one in the world means that the aquarium has the largest fish tank for keeping sharks in the world. The water tank is 22.5 meters long, 8.2 meters high and 37 meters deep. The acrylic glass is 60 centimeters thick and the water storage capacity is 7500 cubic meters. Most people are very small when standing in front of it.
Almost all aquariums in the world, big or small, will have dolphin performances, and Okinawa Ocean Park naturally has them. You can see the wonderful dolphin performance place of Okichan Theatre within 5 minutes' walk from the park. You don't need to buy tickets to watch the dolphin show in this theater. Dolphin Studio is very popular with students, where you can learn a lot about marine science.
Okinawa Ocean Expo Park has beautiful marine aquarium, tropical dream center, dolphin theater and other attractions. In the Beautiful Ocean Aquarium, visitors can watch the Kuroshio Ocean and whale sharks through the world's thickest giant acrylic partition board. In addition, there is a flower show in Okinawa Ocean Expo Memorial Park in early February, and a summer fireworks show in late July, with wonderful programs all year round.
