Installation requirements of escalator safety brush

Q: Installation requirements of escalator safety brushes.

A: In view of the frequent escalator accidents, especially the high proportion of hand and foot injuries, and the main victims are children. The Safety Code for the Manufacture and Installation of Escalators and Moving Sidewalks GB16899-201,20 1 1 was promulgated and implemented on July 29th, and the original code was abolished at the same time. The new code stipulates that escalators and moving sidewalks should be equipped with apron anti-pinch devices that meet the requirements, which are composed of rigid and flexible parts (such as brushes and rubber profiles).

Chapter IV List of Major Hazard Sources

4.2 Mechanical hazards

-Sandwiched between apron and step, and between comb plate and step or pedal;

-Trapped between steps or pedals.

……

For escalators in 5.5.3.4, the possibility of stagnation between steps and skirts should be reduced. To this end, the following four conditions should be met:

A) Stiffness of apron shall comply with the regulations of 5.5.3.4.

B) The clearance shall comply with the provisions of 5.5.5. 1.

C) Skirt anti-pinch devices meeting the following requirements shall be installed:

1) consists of rigid and flexible parts (such as brushes and rubber profiles);

2) The protruding part of the vertical surface of the apron should be at least 33 mm and at most 50 mm; ;

3) Apply a force of 900N to the protruding area of the rigid part, perpendicular to the connecting line of the rigid part, and uniformly act on the rectangular area of 6cm2, without causing detachment and permanent deformation;

4) Rigid parts should extend horizontally from 18mm to 25mm and have the required strength; The horizontal protrusion of flexible parts should be at least 15mm and at most 30mm;;

5) In the inclined section, the perpendicularity between the lowest edge of the rigid part of the apron anti-pinch device and the connecting line of the front edge of the step should be 25-30mm;

6) In the transition section and horizontal section, the distance between the lowest edge of the rigid part of the apron anti-pinch device and the highest position of the step surface should be 25-55 mm;

7) The lower surface of the rigid member should form an upward inclination angle of not less than 250 with the skirt, and the upper surface should form a downward inclination angle of not less than 250 with the skirt;

8) The edge of skirt anti-pinch device should be round. Fasteners and connectors should not protrude to the operation area;

9) The end of the skirt anti-pinch device should be gradually reduced and smoothly connected with the skirt. The end point of the skirt anti-pinch device should be located in front of the intersection line between the comb teeth and the tread (step side), with a position of not less than 50mm and a maximum of150 mm;

10) If the skirt anti-pinch device is an extension of the inner cover, the requirements of 5.2.2.6.2 also apply. The requirements of 5.5.3. 1 also apply if the apron anti-pinch device is installed on the apron or as an integral part of the apron.

D) The apron under the apron anti-pinch device should adopt suitable materials or suitable surface treatment methods to reduce the friction coefficient with leather (wet or dry), PVC (dry) and rubber.
