Ding Yi, who loved calligraphy since childhood, practiced calligraphy with his father since childhood. His father is a famous local calligrapher. Under the strict guidance of his father, he began to practice from Ou Yangxun's masterpiece "Jiuchenggong Li Quanming", and gradually extended to the Eight Laws of Yongzi, the Thirty-six Laws of Ou Yangxun and the Ninety-two Laws of Huang Ziyuan. In the process of copying and learning, he did not avoid the cold and heat, wholeheartedly, tirelessly, and did not dare to be careless, trying to understand the subtlety and mystery of regular script, from which he realized the true meaning of the brushwork structure of European regular script. Even between meals and going to the toilet, I don't forget to practice hanging my wrists and elbows. I usually use chopsticks as an opportunity to practice when eating. During this period, he studied the Huadu Temple Monument and Huangfujun Monument in Ou Yangxun, as well as Meng Diantie, Zhang Tie and Hans Zhang Tie. In the long-term practice, Ding Yi realized that the most important thing in calligraphy is the pen, followed by the form. Regular script is moving silently, pointing to the back, and there are images in vertical and horizontal directions. In the creation of internal books, Ding Yi carefully pondered the coordination between the focus of writing and strokes, tried to master the mystery of writing, and tried to write round and straight, avoiding being like an operator. When writing, try to make good use of the center, the starting point is sharp and the landing point is round. Considering the shape of the snuff bottle in the painting, Ding Yi realized in his creation that the slight arc from left to right will make the brushwork vivid and affectionate; Point should be sharp and round, pick should be sharp and sharp, bend inside and outside, and hook should be half bent and half straight. The pen is flexible and limitless. In particular, the whole word should be written in different strokes, but in harmony. A line of words is patchwork, but it has always come down in one continuous line. If there is, it will naturally run through and look like a pearl necklace. After nearly ten years of hard work, Ding Yi finally put the books with vivid shelf structure in China into the pot. The structure is neat but not rigid, compact but not cramped.
