How to store chestnuts?
The quality of chestnut storage depends first on the quality of chestnut, and then on the storage technology. Therefore, on the basis of selecting storage methods, the following points must be implemented before storage to ensure the storability of stored chestnuts. ① Try to harvest fully mature chestnuts. If you harvest with bamboo poles, you have to wait for more than two-thirds of the chestnut bracts to crack. After a few sunny days, dry them and harvest them in the morning dew. ② Mechanical damage should be reduced as much as possible during loading, unloading and transportation to keep the peel intact. (3) Before preservation, the chestnuts were spread indoors for 1 ~ 2 days, so that the chestnuts gave off excessive moisture. When the weight loss was about 10%, the chestnuts were transferred to preservation treatment. (4) In the process of spreading moisture, seeds should be selected one by one, and seeds with diseases, insect pests, tender fruits, serious mechanical damage to fruit shells or dirty brown spots should be eliminated, and robust seeds with full grains, heavy grains, dark and old shells and slight luster should be selected and kept, and then put into a tank for water selection, and seeds floating on the water surface or semi-sinking and semi-floating in water should be eliminated, and those sunk in the bottom of the tank should be kept. ⑤ Chestnut should be treated with pest control, anti-corrosion and anti-germination before storage. ⑥ Do a good job in disinfection of chestnuts, warehouses or storage places to prevent pests and diseases during storage.
