The entrepreneurial story of Gaobo Education
This is a story. Three people and their friends hope to create and establish the third generation higher education institutions in China in their lifetime. It all started with saying goodbye to the holiday and visiting two good friends, namely Mr Lai, former chairman of China Company, and Mr Yang Shiliang, director of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Electronic Industry. After nearly 30 years of career, Mr. Lai Rongbing (two outstanding information technology companies in the world: Intel and Motorola) is ready to retire. The International Cooperation Department of China Ministry of Electronic Industry headed by Mr. Yang Shiliang is responsible for establishing Sino-foreign joint ventures. During his tenure, Yang was in charge of 909 high-tech projects led by multinational corporations and China, helping foreign multinational corporations to enter the China market. Mr Lai and Mr Yang Shiliang believe that the serious shortage of high-tech talents has become an important factor restricting the economic development of China. The two of them discussed for a long time, hoping to come up with an effective way to help the country solve this problem, that is, direct retirement. They told this idea to Ms. Gao Shuqing (former vice president of motorcycle world, Ms. Lai) and prepared to set up a special group to solve this problem (the predecessor of GEM, Gaobo Education Management Group). Ms. Gao Shuqing immediately rushed to Shanghai from Kuala Lumpur. Previously, Ms. Gao Shuqing participated in a large number of sustainable development activities in China, involving the fields of environment and education. The three concluded that higher education is the key point to maintain China's economic growth, and continued to persuade other friends with similar ideas to join the group. GEM group was established in 2002, aiming at establishing a private non-profit third-generation higher education institution.
