After the rapid popularity of corporate citizenship and corporate social responsibility, sustainable development reports have made great progress, and gradually occupied the dominant position of non-financial reports after the release of the second generation reporting guide of Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) in 2002. By 2002, 52% of the top 250 enterprises in the world had published independent sustainable development reports.
3. The history of enterprise sustainable development report in China is not long. The first report can be traced back to 1999, and Shell (China) Company took the lead in publishing the Report on Enterprise Sustainable Development. In the following years, PetroChina, Ford Motor Company, Baoshan Iron and Steel, China Ping An, Toshiba China and Jiangxi Mobile also joined the ranks. In 2006, State Grid released the first sustainable development report of domestic enterprises, Corporate Social Responsibility Report. After that, the number of sustainable development reports of enterprises dominated by state-owned enterprises soared, and 18 reports were released throughout the year. In 2007, the sustainable development report of enterprises continued to heat up, and it is expected that the number of reports will exceed the same period in 2006.
