Ethylene glycol still takes the petrochemical route, and the technical lifeline is still in the hands of foreigners. "Golden Coal Chemical Industry" combined with the world-class technology of producing ethylene glycol from lignite developed by Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the world-class technology of separating carbon monoxide by pressure swing adsorption won the second prize of Peking University National Science and Technology Invention. An industrial demonstration plant with an annual output of 200,000 tons of ethylene glycol was first built in Tongliao Development Zone, which opened up a new route for ethylene glycol production belonging to China people and laid a solid foundation for making full use of Tongliao's rich lignite resources and building an ethylene glycol production base with an annual output of more than one million tons. Compared with the main oil production routes at home and abroad, the technology of making ethylene glycol from coal is the first in the world, which has obvious cost advantages and economic benefits and is of great significance to China's energy strategy. At present, the project has taken root in Tongliao Economic Development Zone. At the groundbreaking ceremony of the first phase of the 200,000-ton ethylene glycol project with an investment of 654.38+08 billion yuan, Zhang, Vice President of China Academy of Sciences and Academician of China Academy of Sciences, Hong Maochun, Academician of China Academy of Sciences and Director of Fujian Institute of Material Structure, Zeng, Chairman of Shanghai Jinmei Chemical Industry Holding Co., Ltd., Chairman of Tongliao Jinmei Chemical Industry Co., Ltd., and Xu, Director of Science and Technology Department of Inner Mongolia, in addition, leaders of Tongliao Municipal People's Congress, Municipal Government, Tongliao Development Zone and various bureaus, Leaders of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Peking University, Inner Mongolia Science and Technology Department and Tongliao Municipal Committee delivered speeches at the groundbreaking ceremony. In their speeches, everyone agreed with the leading technology of ethylene glycol production in "Golden Coal Chemical Industry" and its significance in the General Administration of Chemical Strategy, and also placed hope on the project.
