"The world is so big, I have gone out to see it."
From Shuangyashan, Heilongjiang to Haikou, Hainan, from Changxing, Zhejiang to Hainan, Qinghai, Li walked north and south, pointing out the mountains and rivers. His film world is much more grand and unprecedented than that of any domestic photovoltaic company.
In his mind, competitors who do photovoltaics are doing "small photovoltaics" and Hanergy is doing "big photovoltaics". Li's blueprint for the world, because it exceeded many people's imagination, left many mysteries, which have not been solved so far.
Why is the layout scattered?
Several major domestic PV companies in the middle and lower reaches are not as big as Hanergy. Trina Solar's production base (TSL. NYSE) in Changzhou is concentrated in Changzhou and Xiantao, Hubei. Artes solar energy (CSIQ. NSDQ) mainly produces batteries and components in Suzhou and Changshu. Yingli New Energy has been based in Baoding, Hebei Province, in addition to its polysilicon business in Hainan. Other companies, such as CLP Photovoltaic, Zhongli Technology and Hairun Photovoltaic, also set up factories in East China, each focusing on cities.
Where is the production base of Hanergy? The answer is: all over the country. What Hanergy has done is a huge layout, including South China cities such as Haikou and Heyuan, as well as western regions such as Chengdu and Qinghai. Changxing, Changzhou, Nanjing, Yucheng, and even Shuangyashan in Heilongjiang are also listed.
Many people speculate that Hanergy's laying so many bases is not like taking land or converting it into real estate, because it seems that most of the land used for building factories cannot be used as commercial land.
And for photovoltaic manufacturers, it seems that there is no benefit. Judging from the current pattern of photovoltaic industry, crystalline silicon photovoltaic enterprises will be more competitive if they are larger and more concentrated.
What is the real production capacity?
In addition to working hard on production bases, Hanergy official website also claimed that the total production capacity of several production R&D bases in Sichuan, Guangdong, Hainan and Zhejiang has reached 3 GW.
Moreover, Hanergy is developing power station resources all over the world, and has signed about 10G thin-film power station construction agreements with Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Jiangsu, Hainan, Shandong, Hebei and other provinces and many European countries, becoming a high-tech clean energy enterprise covering technology research and development, high-end equipment manufacturing, component production and power station construction in the upper, middle and lower reaches of industrial integration.
However, the total production capacity of Hanergy's multiple bases does not seem to have reached the expected production capacity. In addition, there is no battery production in Hanergy factories such as Nanjing and Qinghai.
At the end of 20 12, Hanergy announced that as the world's largest thin-film solar energy enterprise and solar power generation system integrator, the total investment was about 27 billion yuan. However, according to the report of China Business News, the actual total investment of several production bases, including the above-mentioned areas, has not yet reached the figure of 27 billion yuan.
Hanergy's real financial resources?
Unlike people in the photovoltaic circle, the outside world has always felt that Hanergy is a company with very strong financial strength.
Li, who was not known to the outside world for 20 12 years, suddenly came out of the mountain in 20 13 and entered the 83rd place in a rich list. Since then, Li has shown the promotion trend of "photovoltaic cloud": 20 14 and 20 15 ranked third and first respectively, and Ma Yun has been left behind this year.
In the Forbes rich list, Li also emerged with 20 13, and remained in the top five for three consecutive years.
However, the reality is that many thin-film battery manufacturers in Hanergy do not seem to strongly feel the benefits of having a "rich father". In some areas, photovoltaic cell production projects are progressing slowly, and some projects also rely on the government investment and financing platform companies where the investment is located to "borrow money" to start construction.
Li's speed and passion don't seem to infect the banking industry at all, and it's not that all major domestic banks are lenient with such a famous enterprise as Hanergy.
Local government attitude?
Many local governments have a good impression of those who have just arrived in Li.
Low-cost, pollution-free production technology will replace the route of crystalline silicon cells, and will eventually dominate the field of solar photovoltaic-this is the benefit of thin-film solar cells mentioned by Li on many occasions since 2009, and Li even specially compiled a jingle: "Solar energy is unlimited, boundless, inexhaustible, unbiased and priceless."
He once predicted in the book "China Leading: The Third Industrial Revolution in China" published on 20 12 that the potential direct scale of the photovoltaic building integration market in China is about 10 trillion yuan, which is equivalent to 3-5 times that of the automobile industry in China, and indirectly drives the economic growth scale to 30 trillion yuan.
His passion for photovoltaics touched many provincial governments. Some places even help them find banks, and some even take out their own platform companies to provide the greatest help to Hanergy.
However, after several years of cooperation, the relationship between Hanergy and some local governments has undergone subtle changes: some people are skeptical about Hanergy, and some people don't understand what Li has done.
Although impatient, some local governments have maintained corresponding contact with Hanergy. However, some people began to have other plans because they couldn't understand what Hanergy was doing.
