The word "slick" didn't have any derogatory meaning before. It can be used to describe a person who is experienced, well-versed in some workplace rules and proficient in some skills, which is relative to "workplace white".

But nowadays, we tend to be derogatory. When we mention the word "slick" in the workplace, what words will come to mind? It is "seniority", "I'll try my best", "I'll think about it", "If there is a plan, I can't say no, I can't punish", "muddling along" and "no enthusiasm for work" ... which makes managers have a headache.

People with the characteristics of "hand skating" have a certain age, but it doesn't mean that all older employees are hand skating. There is no direct relationship between "smooth operator" and age

So what kind of talents will be called "old fritters" and what will be the performance of "old fritters" in the workplace?

First, work enthusiasm is low.

1, like "pushing work"

In the workplace, different people will have different attitudes towards work, and some people will actively accept it; Some people don't take the initiative themselves, and the leaders arrange it for themselves and do it themselves; But some people's first reaction to work is to refuse.

The first reaction is rejection, which may have the following three reasons:

I can't do it myself, or I haven't figured out how to do it yet.

Don't like that job

If we don't like the job ourselves, our first reaction will be to refuse it.

Be in a relatively lazy state

When we are always in a leisurely and lazy state, if someone suddenly gives us a job and needs to change from a lazy state to a working state because we have broken our own state, our hearts will be very resistant.

The first reaction of a workplace "operator" is to refuse the work arrangement, not because he doesn't know how to do it, nor because he doesn't like the work itself, but because he has been in a relatively lazy state for a long time, has no passion and enthusiasm for his work, and just wants to muddle along all day.

2, the work does not cooperate

"Smooth" in the workplace, will not actively cooperate with the leadership to complete the work, usually take two ways:

(1) Negative coping

Negative coping is a common way of "smooth hands" in the workplace, which is embodied in "one face to face, one behind" When the work is assigned to you, you will actively undertake it, but after taking over the work, you will react negatively. Either the work is delayed and cannot be completed before the deadline, or the quality of the completed work is not guaranteed.

(2) Public refusal

There is also a "smooth operator", who, with his deep qualifications or older age, has no choice but to take care of himself and will be fearless in his work. Openly refuse and disobey the leadership work arrangement.

Second, it is very difficult for companies to deal with "smooth operators"

"Old-fashioned fried dough sticks" are not useless, but can be used as "old-fashioned fried dough sticks", which means: on the one hand, they are old employees of the company and have certain working ability; On the other hand, it may be that the employees who grew up with the company have made great contributions to the company in the past. From the point of view that the company respects talents and does not "kick down the ladder", it is very reluctant to deal with such employees. On the other hand, if the company really wants to deal with it, it is more difficult to deal with it.

1, "slick" may be "related"

As workers, they are basically in a relatively weak position in the workplace. Therefore, in the employer, whether out of the requirements of their own professional quality or surrendering to reality, they will strictly abide by the company's rules and regulations, respect their superiors, and conscientiously complete their work.
