Please tell me about your experience of working in VMware/EMC for nearly four years:
0. A place dominated by engineer culture. Having a clear career direction will also give you a sense of accomplishment in your work. The boss will talk to you about your future personal development from time to time, and the current task will meet your interests from time to time.
Because virtualization products are between software and hardware, the company will have a test room to let you know more about end-to-end. I don't know how many so-called full-stack engineers haven't even touched the configuration of the server, but at VMware, as long as you are interested, you can study it, whether it's kernel code or cross-directional content.
1, work-life balance, flexible working system, no need to rush to nine to six, no overtime culture. If I go to work by bike or bus, I usually arrive from 9: 30 to 9: 35. If I have a meeting in the morning, I can also choose to dial in at home or on the road. Efficiency first, there is no need to be demanding of working time in the company.
Some colleagues will check email at home at night and connect VPN to the company to see the code or debug. No one will ask you to do this. These are just different habits of everyone. It is estimated that there are about 1/4- 1/3 people in our company who can go to work at 9: 00, and are still in the company after 6: 15, except playing Texas Hold 'em or billiards. It is estimated that there is not even 1/4.
2. Rich community activities and volunteer activities. Good health is the capital of revolution. Leisure, entertainment, sports and fitness are all advocated by the company. Even if there are only 100 people, we have established many social clubs, such as running, badminton, basketball, football, swimming, Texas Hold 'em, fitness, reading and so on. The company also has table football, massage chairs, billiards tables and other facilities.
It seems that we are still planning to build a mini gym. I bought sit-ups and put them in the company. Come to exercise every day when you are tired of mental work ~ We also have a lot of cooperation with NGOs in charity, including charity sales and volunteer activities.
3. Forget drinks and snacks. Basically, IT companies have free drinks and snacks. However, I thought that Happy Hour, like our company, would serve 2 1 cakes and Starbucks.
