Autodesk owns, develops and updates DWG file formats. Usually, every few years, as the company adds new functions to AutoCAD, DWG will be updated.

DXF, a variant of DWG format and ASCII format, has become the de facto file standard in CAD drawing data exchange. It is estimated that there are more than 10 billion DWG files in the world. Several companies are reverse engineering the DWG file format, trying to provide other design software with the ability to read and write DWG files.

Advantages of dwg file:

DWF drawing format is also the format we often use when drawing. DWF file is a new, open and safe file format adopted by Autodesk Company. It can effectively distribute rich design data to anyone who needs to view, review or print these data, so as to display AutoCAD graphics on the Internet.

DWF file can be compressed, and its size is 8 times that of the original DWG graphic file, so it is easy to edit and view the graphic file.
