Why can PX be based in Japan and South Korea?
The picture shows Japanese JX company's PX factory in Okayama Prefecture. Editor's note From Xiamen to Dalian, and then to Ningbo, in recent years, mass incidents triggered by PX projects have attracted attention. However, the PX project, which has made a lot of noise in China, has rarely caused controversy abroad. How do foreign companies manage PX projects? How does the government reassure the people? What are the experiences that China can learn from? In response to these readers' concerns, China Environmental News published relevant articles in a special issue for readers. Nowadays, chemical products have penetrated into all aspects of production and life and are closely related to people's lives. Chemical industry has always been a pillar industry in the national economic strategy. In recent years, chemical fiber products are in short supply, and Japanese and Korean companies are still increasing the production capacity of PX projects. The author visited South Korea's Samsung Total Company and S-Oil Company, as well as Japan's JX Company and Okayama Prefecture Government, and found that Japanese and Korean enterprises and governments attach great importance to safety production and have advanced safety and environmental protection concepts. It can be seen that as long as the technology is reasonable and the management is in place, chemical enterprises can also be harmonious with society, friendly with the environment and prosperous with the surrounding residents. The author believes that domestic enterprises and governments not only need to introduce foreign advanced production technology and equipment and other hardware, but also need to learn the software of foreign enterprises in safety awareness and management concept. □ Why is there no smell in the factory? ■ Establish strict standards and increase investment in safety and environmental protection. Should PX projects stay away from residential areas? How safe is it? It is found that the distance between PX project and residential area is not the key, but the safety and environmental awareness and management level of the enterprise. In South Korea, S-Oil's PX factory is only15km away from Ulsan city center. Even if it is 4km away from the factory, there are still residents living there. In Japan, the PX factory of JX Company is only 10 km away from the Kurashiki municipal government. However, the distance between the location of China PX project and residential areas is far greater than this figure. In people's impression, chemical plants are usually seriously polluted, and there will be a pungent smell when they arrive nearby. However, in South Korea's S-oil factory, there is almost no smell in and around the factory. In the pool of the factory, several ducks are swimming happily. According to reports, all the water in the pool is sewage produced by the factory, but these sewage have reached the drinking standard after treatment. What's the trick? In fact, it is to increase investment in safety and environmental protection. Samsung Total, S-Oil, and Japan JX all set stricter enterprise standards than the national standards, and are willing to invest real money in safety and environmental protection. Safety and environmental awareness has penetrated into the hearts of enterprise managers.
