If we are a big automobile country, we will definitely think of the United States, Japan and Germany with developed automobile industries. When it comes to automobile consuming countries, we should first think of China, because China's automobile production and sales are the highest in the world. In short, no one can think of Iran anyway.
In our minds, if we label Iran, it is nothing more than the words of a big country in the Middle East, oil exports, and so on. I'm afraid no one will associate Iran with the automobile industry. However, the fact is quite different from our inherent impression. Today, we talk about Iranian cars.
Our major cities in China are full of cars. Traffic jam is our biggest worry, but do you know? In 20 19, the number of cars per thousand people in China was 173, and that in Iran was 178. You know, Iran is not a small country with a population of over 80 million.
According to auto media reports, since 2007, the annual sales volume of Iranian cars has exceeded 1 10,000, and 20 1 1 year has reached a record high of nearly10.6 million, ranking 15 in the global market.
As we all know, the oil industry and natural gas industry are the economic pillars of Iran, but after oil and natural gas, the automobile industry ranks third in Iran's economy, contributing nearly one-tenth of Iran's GDP.
According to the statistics of the International Automobile Manufacturers Association, in 20 17, Iran produced more than10.5 million vehicles, making it the second largest automobile producer in the world. Iran's automobile industry employs more than 700,000 people, covering more than 60 related industries, and occupies a very important position in Iran's industrial system.
Of course, as we said in the program, Iran invested heavily in establishing the most complete industrial system in the Middle East as early as King Pahlavi's time, in which the automobile industry was an important part. The Iranian automobile industry is very similar to China, and both started as joint ventures.
At present, IKCO and Sepa, the two largest automobile manufacturers in Iran, have established their own brand production lines through cooperation with French Logo Group and Renault Group. Although the models are relatively old, at present, the main products are local models developed on the basis of old models such as Logo405, 206 and Citroen c3. However, Iran has been vigorously promoting the localization of auto parts, but some electronic control technologies still need to be imported, and now the localization rate has reached 8 or 90%.
However, Iran's automobile industry is now in economic trouble. I don't know if you have noticed that the glory of Iran's automobile industry we talked about all appeared 20 17 years ago. In recent years, with the resumption of the blockade of Iranian technology and parts by western powers, Iran's automobile industry is currently facing difficulties in technology introduction and parts import. In the past two years, Iran's automobile production has dropped to less than 6,543,800+million vehicles per year.
Facing the US sanctions and technical blockade, the Iranian automobile industry is also actively looking for other overseas cooperation, in which China automobile enterprises have played an important role. For example, IKCO now cooperates with Dongfeng Motor and Haima Motor, and Sepa also cooperates with Brilliance and Changan Automobile to launch new joint venture models.
In recent years, China automobile brands have been growing and expanding in the Iranian market, and their market share has been expanding. In 2002, Chery was the first China brand to enter the Iranian automobile market. Now there are more than ten China automobile manufacturers, including Brilliance, BYD, Changan, Dongfeng, Geely and Jianghuai. Chery has done the best in selling cars in Iran through joint ventures, and now its market share in Iran has reached 6%. Now, China's total market share in Iran has exceeded 20%. 20 18 Iran has become the largest destination of China's automobile exports.
However, with the Iranian economy in trouble, the entire Iranian auto market, including China Auto, shrank sharply in 20 19. Like all walks of life in the Iranian economy, the biggest problem facing the Iranian automobile industry at present is how to survive. We hope that Iran and western powers can ease the situation as soon as possible, so that the Iranian economy can get out of the predicament and bring more business opportunities to China car companies.
In the program, we mentioned the automobile industry in Iran. We specially prepared an article to introduce the development of Iran's automobile industry. Interested friends, please reply to the words "Iranian car" in our headline "Reasonable" and provide the full text.
