The company was established in 1988, mainly engaged in property insurance business in Shenzhen; 1992 the company's business area is extended to the whole country; 1994 to enter the life insurance market; 1996 began to operate securities and trust business, and in the same year began to operate insurance business overseas. In 2002, according to the requirements of separate operation of the insurance industry, the company established Ping An Life Insurance Company of China and Ping An Property Insurance as the main sponsors to operate life insurance and property insurance business respectively. In 2003, with the consent of the State Council and the approval of the China Insurance Regulatory Commission, the company was changed into a holding company; In the same year, the company acquired Fujian Asia Bank (later renamed Ping An Bank) and officially entered the banking industry. From 2004 to 2005, the company established Ping An Pension Insurance, Ping An Health Insurance and Ping An Asset Management successively, which realized the professional operation of pension insurance and health insurance and the professional management of insurance assets. From June 2006 to February 2006, the company acquired Shenzhen Commercial Bank to further consolidate and expand its commercial bank resources. The company is headquartered in Shenzhen.
