The following documents shall be provided when the purchased ship applies for ship ownership registration:
(1) invoices for the purchase of ships or contracts for the sale of ships and handover documents;
(2) Certificate of cancellation of ship ownership registration issued by the ship registration authority of the original port of registry;
(3) A certificate that the mortgaged ship is not mortgaged or a document that the mortgagee agrees to transfer the mortgaged ship to another person.
To apply for ship ownership registration for a newly built ship, the ship construction contract and handover documents shall be provided. However, a ship under construction only needs a ship construction contract to apply for ship ownership registration; To apply for the registration of ownership of a self-built and self-used ship, documents sufficient to prove the acquisition of ownership shall be provided.
Where a ship obtained by inheritance, gift, auction or court judgment according to law applies for registration of ship ownership, it shall provide a certificate of ship ownership acquisition with corresponding legal effect.
Legal basis: Article 2 of the Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Ship Registration The following ships shall be registered in accordance with the provisions of these Regulations:
(1) Ships of China citizens who have their domicile or principal office in People's Republic of China (PRC).
(2) A ship established in accordance with the laws of People's Republic of China (PRC) has its principal place of business in People's Republic of China (PRC) and an enterprise as a legal person in People's Republic of China (PRC). However, if there is foreign investment in the registered capital of a legal person, the contribution of Chinese investors shall not be less than 50%.
(three) People's Republic of China (PRC) official ships and institutions, corporate ships.
(four) other ships that the harbour superintendency agencies of People's Republic of China (PRC) and China think should be registered.
The registration of military vessels, fishing vessels and sports vessels shall be handled in accordance with the provisions of relevant laws and regulations.
