Shi-Chang railway construction

Shichang Railway is a joint venture project between the Ministry of Railways and the Hunan Provincial People's Government. It starts from Shimen North Station of Liu Jiao Railway in the west and reaches Laodaohe Station of Beijing-Guangzhou Railway in the east. It spans four major rivers in Hunan and passes through Changde, Yiyang and Changsha 12 county, with a total length of 264 kilometers. Its total investment is 4.263 billion yuan, with the Ministry of Railways contributing 2/3 and the Hunan Provincial Government contributing 1/3. Shichang Railway Co., Ltd., established by the Ministry and the province, operates independently, is responsible for its own profits and losses, and develops by itself. At the beginning of its establishment, the State Planning Commission called it "the first standardized joint venture railway company in China". The joint-stock cooperation in railway construction has greatly mobilized the "two enthusiasm" of railways and localities. In the construction of Shi-Chang Railway, the Ministry of Railways gave full support and the local government actively cooperated, and achieved the brilliant achievements that the span of the highway-railway dual-purpose bridge in Shui Yuan was the first in China, the bridge-building machine was used for the first time in China, and the centralized electrical interlocking was realized in only 80 years. It took only four years from the commencement to the completion of 1998. Shi-Chang Railway was completed.
