Qualcomm cooperates with many companies to develop and promote the application of HDR technology.
Qualcomm and Hitachi have cooperated on the wireless Internet in HDR mode. The two companies are jointly developing HDR communication systems and will conduct regional tests. This test will evaluate the characteristics, functions, network structure and connection points of HDR wireless part. Hitachi will develop and manufacture goods according to the test results.
1At the end of 1999, Kyocera Corporation, which decided to acquire the mobile phone business in Qualcomm, also showed a positive attitude towards the development of HDR terminals.
Qualcomm and Lucent Technology have been cooperating to develop HDR technology. Lucent and Sprint PCS began to experiment with high-speed mobile Internet in July 2000, using the current CDMA mobile phone network. The experimental site is located at Sprint PCS Technology Comprehensive Center in Lenexa, Kansas. The technology used by these two companies is based on HDR in Qualcomm.
It is reported that Japan's IDO began HDR experiment in July 2000, and communication service providers in South Korea and Australia will also start experiments.
At present, Qualcomm has announced plans to develop an enhanced high-speed wireless data communication technology "HDR".
The existing HDR is a technology developed for cdmaOne, cdma2000 and other systems (called 1x), and its diffusion bandwidth is1.25mhz. The enhanced HDR of Qualcomm Project is called "3xHDR", and its diffusion bandwidth will be three times that of 1x, namely 3.75MHz(3x). By expanding the bandwidth of diffusion zone, the data communication ability is further improved.
However, the implementation time and specific specifications of 3xHDR are not clear at present, and its data communication speed is expected to be about 3 m ~ 5 mbit/s.
