The play is adapted from Liang's novel of the same name, which won Mao Dun Literature Prize. The film is produced by Lu Li as the chief producer, written by Wang Hailing and Wang Daoou, and starring Lei Jiayin, Xin, Song Jia and Yin Tao.
As early as the publication of the novel, Tencent Pictures paid attention to this "Human World", and included the novel in the pre-development list of realistic themes, and handed it to director Lu Li together with other selected works to discuss cooperation matters. Lu Li finished reading The World in one breath and thought it was "my dish".
The two sides quickly reached a cooperation intention and decided to jointly develop and invest in the TV series "On Earth". Subsequently, at the end of 20 18, Tencent Pictures won the right to film and television adaptation for 8 years.
