Jiangsu, referred to as "Su" for short, is the provincial administrative region of China and the capital of Nanjing. It is named after the initials of "jiangning house" and "Suzhou House". Located in the eastern coastal center of Chinese mainland, at the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, it is adjacent to Zhejiang and Shanghai in the southeast, Anhui in the west and Shandong in the north. It spans the Yangtze River and Huaihe River, and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal passes through it. It is an important part of the Yangtze River Delta.

Jiangsu terrain is dominated by plains, which are mainly composed of Subei Plain, Huanghuai Plain, Jianghuai Plain, Binhai Plain and Yangtze River Delta Plain. It is the lowest-lying province in China, with most areas below 50 meters above sea level. The low mountains and hills are concentrated in the southwest, accounting for 14.3% of the total area of Jiangsu Province, mainly including Laoshan Mountain, Yuntai Mountain, Ningzhen Mountain, Maoshan Mountain and Yili Mountain.
The Yangtze River in Jiangsu is 433 kilometers long from east to west, the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal is 7 18 kilometers long from north to south, and the coastline is 957 kilometers long. There are large and medium-sized lakes such as Taihu Lake, Hongze Lake, gaoyou lake Lake, Roman Lake, Baima Lake, Shijiu Lake and Weishan Lake, as well as various tributaries such as the Grand Canal, Hu Aishu River, Chuanchang River, Guanhe River, Yanhe River, Tongyu Canal, Irrigation Canal and Toarey Yang Canal. The canals are vertical and horizontal, and the water network is dense.
Among the five major freshwater lakes in China, two are located in Jiangsu, and Taihu Lake is 2250 square kilometers, ranking third; Hongze Lake ranks fourth with an area of 2,069 square kilometers.
