The history of OOCL container transportation company

In the early 1970s, OOCL suffered a major setback in history. 1In September, 970, OOCL purchased the famous British cruise ship "RMS Queen Elizabeth", transformed it into a floating university, and named it "S.S. Seawise University". 1972 65438+1October 9, the ship caught fire while painting, and then sank into Victoria Harbour, Hong Kong.

From 65438 to Dong Haoyun's death in 0982, OOCL experienced the financial crisis of global shipping recession. OOCL, which is closely related to China Kuomintang, got out of trouble with the help of China people and China government through Henry Fok. This paved the way for Dong Haoyun's son and successor, Tung Chee-hwa, to become the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 1997. The leadership of the company was later handed over to Tung Chee-hwa's younger brother Dong Jiancheng.

Today, OOCL is still one of the major shipping and logistics companies in the world, with more than 4,000 employees in 50 countries.
