Impregnating glass fiber with this coupling agent can improve the wet mechanical strength and electrical properties of glass fiber reinforced composites.
In wire and cable industry, coupling agent is used to treat EPDM system filled with clay and crosslinked with peroxide, which improves the loss factor, specific inductance and capacitive reactance. Together with vinyl acetate and acrylic acid or methacrylic acid monomers, these polymers are widely used in coatings, adhesives and sealants, providing excellent adhesion and durability.

Application mode
Surface pretreatment method: silane coupling agent is prepared into dilute solution with concentration of 0.5 ~ 1%. When in use, you only need to apply a thin layer on the clean adhesive surface, and then paste it after drying. Most solvents used are water, alcohol or water-alcohol mixture, and water without fluoride ions, cheap and nontoxic ethanol and isopropanol are suitable. Except aminoalkyl silane, acetic acid should be added to the solution prepared by other silane coupling agents as hydrolysis catalyst, and the pH value should be adjusted to 3.5 ~ 5.5. Long-chain alkyl and phenylsilane are not suitable for aqueous solution because of their poor stability.
The hydrolysis process of chlorosilane and ethoxysilane is accompanied by serious condensation reaction, which should not be used as aqueous solution or water-alcohol solution, but as alcohol solution. For silane coupling agent with poor water solubility, 0. 1 ~ 0.2% (mass fraction) nonionic surfactant can be added first, and then water can be added to process it into water emulsion for later use.
