China Southern Power Grid Corporation was formally established and put into operation on February 29th, 2002. The company is managed by the central government, and the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council performs the responsibilities of investor. The company's power supply areas are Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou and Hainan, and it is responsible for investing, building and managing the southern regional power grid, operating related power transmission and distribution business, and participating in the investment, construction and operation of related cross-regional power transmission and networking projects. Engaged in power purchase and sale business, responsible for power trading and dispatching; Engaged in domestic and overseas investment and financing business; Independent development of foreign trade circulation management, international cooperation, foreign project contracting and foreign labor cooperation.
There are 22 departments in the headquarters of China Southern Power Grid Corporation, including two directly affiliated institutions, namely, the headquarters logistics management center and the annuity center, and three branches, namely, the EHV company, the peak shaving and frequency modulation company and the education, training and evaluation center (Party school and cadre college). Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou and Qiong Power Grid Company, Guangzhou and Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau, Wang Nan International Company, Dingyuan Assets Company, Ding Xin Science and Technology Company, Wang Nan Materials Company, Capital Holding Company and Wang Nan Economic Research Institute 13 wholly-owned subsidiaries; And six holding subsidiaries, namely Southern Network Research Institute, Southern Network Energy Company, Southern Network Finance Company, Southern Network Media Company, Dinghe Insurance Company and Guangzhou Electric Power Trading Center. The total number of employees is 300,000.
