The power supply company is a subordinate unit of State Grid Corporation. State Grid Corporation is an electric power enterprise in China, formerly known as "State Power Company", including State Grid and all power plants. After the power system reform in 2002, the power supply bureau (power supply company) became an enterprise in essence, no longer having administrative functions, but focusing on power production and sales.
Although the staffing of power supply companies is complicated, including the staffing of civil servants (mainly the second-in-command at the district level), career staffing (staffing before the restructuring), enterprise staffing (now most of them are formal) and contract workers. Generally speaking, the power supply company is a state-owned enterprise.
