What is MTU engine?

Produced by Germany MTU company, it mainly produces heavy-duty diesel engines, gas turbines and aero-engine parts. Its products are widely used in ships, trains, trucks, construction machinery, tanks and diesel generator sets. The characteristics of this unit are: small volume, high power, low energy consumption and long life. One of the most famous is the "European Power" engine developed for the Leopard -2 tank made in Germany. Its engine is 12 cylinder, which is arranged in a V shape with an included angle of 90 degrees, and is water-cooled. The connecting rod adopts single throw parallel connection; Direct high pressure injection open combustion chamber; Diesel engine adopts double-top camshaft with 4 valves per cylinder. The injector is located in the center of the cylinder head. The integrated high-pressure jet pump and stepless speed regulation system are adopted to adapt to the power regulation under different working conditions. The cylinder diameter of this machine is 144㎜ and the stroke is 140㎜. Turbocharged intercooled air intake system is adopted, with maximum power 1500KW, and some parts can be accelerated to 2200KW for continuous operation without cylinder explosion. This kind of machine is often integrated with the variable speed transmission device of the tank, placed at the back of the tank and connected with the driving wheel. Then drive the crawler to push the tank forward. Compared with the power system with the same power in the world, the volume of diesel engine is much smaller, but the power and transmission efficiency are much higher.
