Can straw still be burned in 2023?

Since 2023, straw burning will be completely banned nationwide.

Straw burning, as a common practice of traditional agricultural production mode, has become one of the main causes of environmental problems with the acceleration of urbanization. Nowadays, the gap between urban and rural areas is gradually narrowing, and people pay more and more attention to environmental quality. A large number of harmful substances such as smoke, sulfur dioxide and inhalable particles produced by straw combustion not only pollute the air, but also pose a serious threat to the ecological environment.

Therefore, the central government has decided to introduce new laws and regulations to completely ban the burning of straw and encourage farmers to find alternative ways to treat straw, so as to reduce air pollution in rural areas and protect the earth environment on which human beings depend.

Other straw treatment methods are suggested:

1. Compaction and utilization: straw is compacted and made into building materials such as straw bricks and straw boards, which are used to build farm houses and livestock houses.

2. Composting utilization: organic wastes such as straw are composted, and the straw is converted into organic fertilizer through decomposition for fertilization in farmland.

3. Utilization of biomass energy: converting straw into biomass energy, for example, converting straw into renewable energy through biomass power generation and biomass fuel.

4. Straw returning to field: straw returning to field is used as plastic film or mixed into soil to increase soil organic matter content, improve soil structure and improve farmland yield and quality.
