In the late 1970s and early 1980s, China introduced the manufacturing technology of low-speed diesel engines from Sulzer and Mann B&W Company, and started the licensed production of marine diesel engines. Since then, China's shipbuilding industry has followed the model of introduction-digestion-absorption and continuously improved the manufacturing capacity of marine diesel engines.
Low-speed engine generally refers to a reciprocating internal combustion engine with a speed lower than 300 rpm, which can be divided into low-speed diesel engine and low-speed dual-fuel engine according to different fuels.
