What is the Paris Convention?

The full name of Paris Convention is Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property, which stipulates that an applicant may, on the basis of filing a formal application to one of the contracting States for the first time, apply for a patent for invention and utility model within a certain period of time (12 months; Industrial designs and trademarks are six months), apply to any other contracting state for protection, and the date of the later application will be regarded as the same as the date of the first application.
