In my opinion, the gap between Xiaomi and Huawei is reflected in the following three aspects:
First of all, the concept is different.
It can be seen from Yu Chengdong's interview that an important theme of Huawei is "the future", while Xiaomi's theme is "the present", making high quality and low price products with mature technology.
Secondly, the positioning is different.
Although Xiaomi has begun to hit the high-end in 2020, most consumers' impression of Xiaomi is still "cost-effective". Even the price of Xiaomi 10 series, the first high-end model, is very kind. Although Huawei also has low-end models, it is mainly high-end machines and has gained a firm foothold in the high-end market.
Finally, technical barriers
Although it is also a domestic mobile phone brand, Huawei has established technical barriers, and the number of patents applied for each year is far ahead. Compared with Xiaomi mobile phone, Huawei mobile phone has a higher degree of "beautification". For example, Huawei Mate30 5G, the share of parts from American companies is only 1.5%.
On the other hand, Xiaomi, the proportion of parts from the United States in Xiaomi's 5G mobile phone reached 37.8%. Obviously, the domestic production rate of Huawei mobile phones is higher. Moreover, Huawei's mobile phone is also equipped with a self-developed HiSilicon Kirin chip, which not only has excellent performance, but also avoids homogenization. Xiaomi has always relied on Qualcomm Snapdragon chips from the United States.
It is precisely because of the technical gap that Huawei mobile phones have always had an advantage over Xiaomi. Especially in terms of taking pictures, each generation of Mate series or P series new machines has refreshed the DXO score. Not only that, Huawei mobile phones are more innovative than Xiaomi, such as the waterfall screen of Huawei Mate30 Pro and the overflowing screen of P40Pro.
However, compared with Huawei, Xiaomi is not without advantages. With its excellent cost performance and solid and easy-to-use MIUI system, Xiaomi mobile phone has captured many young users. Moreover, in recent years, Xiaomi has also increased its research and development efforts, and may have better performance in the future. Huawei's Kirin chip advantage has been weakened by US sanctions.
