Scientific Research in School of Materials Science and Engineering, North University of China

After years of development, the college has formed four stable research directions, covering metal materials, polymer materials, inorganic nonmetallic materials and composite materials.

Controllable plastic forming technology of 1 Mg-Al alloy

In this direction, new methods, new principles and new equipment for energy saving, consumption reduction, performance improvement and cost reduction are studied by accurately controlling the properties and product shapes of magnesium-aluminum alloy materials, and the transformation of scientific research results is promoted through engineering research. This direction now has the National Defense Precision Plastic Forming Technology Research and Application Center, the Magnesium-based Material Deep Processing Technology Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of Education, and the Shanxi Integrated Precision Forming Engineering Technology Research Center. The research teams are "National Defense Science and Technology Innovation Team" and "Excellent Innovation Team of Universities in Shanxi Province". There are 7 senior professional titles, 2 experts who enjoy special government stickers, 2 young academic leaders in colleges and universities in the province, 1 top-notch innovative talents in the province, national outstanding teachers, chief expert of magnesium alloy and magnesium manufacturing in Shanxi Province, member of the expert group of general assembly development planning, member of the expert group of advanced manufacturing in the commission of science, technology and industry for national defense, member of the editorial board of Journal of Plastic Engineering, and executive director of the National Plastic Engineering Society.

In the past five years, he has undertaken 8 key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, 8 national-level projects such as National 863 and 2/KLOC-0, and the research funding is 26.8 million yuan. Won 3 first prizes, 2 second prizes 1 and 3 third prizes at the provincial and ministerial level; Authorized 8 invention patents; Published 265 papers, 48 of which were included by SCI and EI; Transform 15 new technology to enterprises, and cooperate with enterprises for more than 30 projects.

2. Functional composites

This direction is to study new degradable polymer composites and new molding technologies and processes, nano-composites with optical, electrical and magnetic functions applied to shock absorbers, electronic reconnaissance and anti-reconnaissance, high-strength and light-weight resin-based composites applied to various weapons and aerospace vehicles, and new technologies and methods for efficiently and rapidly preparing ceramic composites. In this direction, there is "Shanxi Polymer Composite Engineering Technology Research Center". National candidate for "Hundred Million Talents Project in the New Century" 1 person, expert enjoying special allowance from the State Council 1 person, outstanding talents in the new century from the Ministry of Education 1 person, provincial candidate for "333 Talents Project for Academic and Technical Leaders in the New Century" 1 person, young academic leaders in provincial universities 1 person, and Industry-University-Research, China.

In this direction, it undertakes 1 projects such as National Defense 973, National Natural Science Foundation, New Century Excellent Talents Support Plan of Ministry of Education, and 30 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, and obtains more than 20 million yuan of scientific research funds; Won the first prize 1 and the second prize 1 of Shanxi Science and Technology Progress and the second prize1of Shanxi Science and Technology Invention; Authorized China invention patent 1 1, American invention patent 1 and European invention patent1; Published 2 16 papers in important journals, of which 60 papers were included by SCI and EI, and 2 monographs were published.

3. New aluminum alloy casting technology and rapid mold making technology.

The research content in this direction involves new aluminum alloy casting technology, laser rapid prototyping and so on. It mainly includes electromagnetic low-pressure casting, computer simulation of casting process, laser rapid prototyping technology and rapid integrated casting technology of large complex aluminum castings. In this direction, there is "Shanxi Foundry New Technology Engineering Technology Research Center". The team consists of 1 person, outstanding talents of the Ministry of Education in the new century, provincial candidates of "333 talents project of academic and technical leaders in the new century", 3 young academic leaders in Shanxi universities and famous teachers in Shanxi universities. This direction undertakes 35 national science and technology support projects, national natural science foundation projects, bottleneck projects of the General Armament Department and national defense basic research projects, with a total funding of 1.8 million yuan; Won the first prize at the ministerial level 1 item, 3 second prizes for scientific and technological progress in Shanxi Province and 2 third prizes for national defense science and technology, 1 item; Authorized 6 invention patents; Published 2 13 academic papers, including 40 papers and 4 monographs by SCI and EI.

4. High-performance and low-cost general polymer materials

This direction focuses on the high performance and application of general polymer materials, and studies the advanced preparation and molding technology of polymer resin with high performance, low cost, environmental friendliness and diversified raw material resources, breaking through the key technology of high performance and low cost polymer material modification. In this direction, there is "Shanxi Engineering Plastics Engineering Technology Research Center". The team undertook 7 provincial-level scientific research projects, and obtained research funding of 210.5 million yuan; Won 4 third prizes for scientific and technological progress in Shanxi Province; Authorized 4 invention patents; Published academic papers 156, of which 45 were included by SCI and EI; Published 4 monographs; Two people won the "Excellent Master's Degree Thesis of Shanxi Province"; Transferred more than 10 technologies to domestic and foreign enterprises. In addition to the above four main research directions, the College of Materials Science and Engineering has also established corresponding research teams in welding materials and their detection technology, ceramic molding technology, carbon material preparation and so on. From 2006 to 20 1 1 year, the research institute achieved fruitful results, and published more than 200 papers 1000, including more than 200 papers included by SCI and EI, 48 invention patents were authorized, and 5 monographs 10 were published, which won 5 first prizes at provincial and ministerial levels and 4 second prizes.
